Carver Art and Essay Contest
Annually, the Carver Association in partnership with the George Washington Carver National Monument and Missouri Southern State University, sponsor the 2005 Carver Art and Essay Contest as part of Black History Month. All fourth grade students are invited to participate and create artwork and/or an essay that represents the contest theme. The 2005 theme is this quote from Dr. Carver: “Unkindness to anything, means an injustice done to that thing.” Entries are displayed at the Spiva Art Center at Missouri Southern State University. All entries are judged by a panel of Missouri Southern State University Education Major students, area teachers, and professors. This year’s awards ceremony is March 19, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Missouri Southern State University’s Billingsly Center. For more information, please feel free to contact the park at 417-325-4151!
