Reuniting the Carver Birthplace Farm

George Washington Carver Association Chairman, Reverend Harry Givens, is pleased to announce that the Association was the proud recipient of an extremely important and valuable donation. Longtime park neighbors, W.J. “Bud” and Evelyn M. Taylor, generously donated the last 30 acres of the original 240-acre birthplace and childhood home of Dr. Carver to the Association! The Association has been interested in obtaining ownership of this land for over 60 years. With the transfer of the remaining 30 acres of the original Carver farm to the Association, we are now positioned to ensure the Carver Legacy is preserved in perpetuity. The entire240-acre Carver Farm is now held jointly by the National Park Service (210 acres) and Carver Association (30 acres)! A monumental accomplishment in the preservation of American History!
