Carver Oral History Project
In 2004, the Carver Association commissioned Carver Scholar Peter Duncan Burchard to conduct an oral history project to capture first person historical memories of relationships and personal impressions of Dr. Carver. Fifty three individuals were identified that are still living, knew Dr. Carver, or have significant historical accounts about Dr. Carver. Two of these individuals are now over one hundred years old and all others are rapidly gaining in years. Oral history interviews were conducted in New York, Washington D.C., North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Illinois, California, and Missouri. Each interview was professionally filmed and summarized by Mr. Burchard. The interviews are now irreplaceable treasures in the Carver collection and will significantly aid in telling the assume story of the life and contributions of Dr. Carver.
